BOOST IN FOREIGN TRADE PREDICTED

MR. RUPERT BECKETT, presiding at the annual meeting of the Westminster Bank yesterday, said he anticipated an increase in bank deposits as the outcome of the in- creased Government expenditure.
With Government firmly controlling finance and avenues of investment, however, he did not consider that such a rapid rise in deposits would occur as in the last war.

The Ministry of Economic Warfare states that there were 29 neutral ships in Unit- ed Kingdom contraband con- trol bases on Tuesday, of which 18 had been there five days or less.
