Deep divergencies exist among Wang Ching-wei's followers; espe- cially among those who hoped for the creation of Wang's government the preliminary of a subsequent mer- ger with Chungking with European and American assistance.

They now consider that Wang has failed since the Japanese peace conditions showed that armed re- sistance is the only possible at- titude of China.

Secondly, there are those who open- ly state that they are ready to con- clude an alliance with Japan in or- der to expel the Whites and "regaln from the Whites those concessions which China will be compelled 10 grant to Japanese Imperialism which, after all, is Asiatic."
