Paris, To-day.

DESPITE THE COLD, the British and French troops on the Western Front have resumed patrol acti- vity. The Nazis, however, are still keeping to their dug-outs and shelters, with the result that the Allies have undisputed possession of "No Man's Land” at the moment.

There was heavy German artillery fire west of the Saar on Wednesday night, and French artillery replied strongly.

Although there is hardly any air| activity, a lone Nazi 'plane is report- ed to have made a long reconnais- sance flight over north-east France.-

SCOOP"

London, To-day. Transocean yesterday morning cited from a Munich

newspaper what purported to be an account of a speech delivered at a "secret sitting of the House of Commons on December 15th."

The report was said to have been based on information received from "reliable neutral circles," but imme- diately afterwards is referred to as. being based "on an authorised ex- tract."

The secret session was held on December 13th and Parliament ad- journed next day for the Christmas Recess. The Commons, therefore, was not in session on December 15th.

It may be recalled that on Decem- ber 12th, a Liberal member sought a ruling from the Speaker on whether it was a fact that any Member who repeated outside, even in private con-

versation, anything said in the House during the secret session would be guilty of a breach of privilege.

SPEAKER'S RULING In reply, citing authorities, the Speaker said that a Member who so

acted would be wilfully disobeying an Order of the House and thereby com-

mitting a gross breach of privilege rendering himself liable to reprimand, commitment to prison or in an ex- treme case, expulsion from the House.

In the light of the Speaker's ruling, the "reliability" of neutral circles claiming to give information about the secret proceedings of the British House of Commons and the "author- ity" on which the alleged extracts have been made from speeches deli- vered at the secret session can be easily judged---Britlah Wireless.
