From a political point of view, this fact is highly significant if it is to be remembered that in September last the Russians' hastened to occupy the Rumanian border, aiming to prevent the Reich's attempt to control Ruman- ia's oil exports by land.

The Chinese north Kwang- tung counter-drive continues to make good progress.
Chinese forces in Fahsien are in relentless pursuit of the Japanese along the Canton-Hankow Railway and cast of the line.
Both Kuntien, Japanese stronghold 25 miles north-west of Canton, and Kunylu, 15 minues north-west of Canton, are being attacked.
In the vicinity of Kwoktaihu, Chin- ese forces scored of minor gains dur- ing week-end, seizing four feld guns and nine machine-guns. The Japan- ese have retreated to the south-east. -Central News.
