BOWLING ALLEYS

By "STRIKE",

There were two or three very interesting matches played off this week. The first was a match in the Singles Handicap Competi- tion between R. H. Tidd and Geo North played on January 5. Tidd had a handicap of 17 and North a handicap of 25, 50 Tidd was conceding 8 pins per game or 24 pina for the three games. Tidd won by 27 pins. the individual scores being as follows:-

There was some remarkably good scoring, there being no fewer than 21 scores of over 100 per game, Tulsa notching 11 of them.

The highest individual score for one game was made by Christiansen with 138 in his first game, but Landolt's four scores of over 100 out of the five games, I believe, is a record for the Alleys in one match.

The average scores for "each team per player was extraordinary good, Tulsa being 101 per player per game, and the Alley team almost 98 per player per game.

in my opinion it would be difficult to find two better Duck Pin Teame than the Tulsa and the Alley Team.

R. H. Tidd.....466 Goo. North.....439 Actually Geo North lost by 27 pins after deducting his handicap, but without his con- cession of 24 he actually lost by 51 pins. I was rather surprised that he did not put up a better fight. I really thought, that he would have beaten Tidd, but, as the scores show. Tidd averaged 155 per game, North only 146 (including his handicap).. North can do better than this as

redoubtable illustrated when he beat the Gene Faggiano in the first round of the Competition, and then beat Jack Grace on November 3. In this latter match he scored 551 for his three games, or an average of

On January 10, Al Worthman, also of the up the 184 pins per game, and chalked

was a very good effort.

Then there was a good Duck Pin match played on January 8 between the U.S.S. Tulsa and the Alley Team, the Tulsa win. ning by 4 pins.

It can be seen from the scores that the Alley Team were up by 17 ping on the first two games, but slowly fell behind on the last three games,, to eventually lose by the low margin of 64 pina. S

On January 8, R. H. Rainville, of Tulsa, almost beat F. P. Hollin's score of 252 which is the record for the month at present. Rainville's effort was 245 and if he had re- gistered a strike instead of one of his spares he would have topped Hollis's score easily. It was a very good effort and Rainville now has the much-coveted honour of being a member of the 200 Club.

On Wednesday there was a very close and exciting five-game ten pin match between those old stalwarts, the Champs and the Tulsa.

Last time these two teams met, Tulsa won by 213 pins, the scores being Tulsa 3182 and the Champs 2970.

On this occasion the position was reversed. Champs winning by the close margin of 81 pins, thus avenging their previous defeat. The individual scores were as follows:-
