U.S.S. TULSA UNOFFICIAL SOFTBALL CHAMPIONS!
(By "GRANDSTAND”)
FANS AT King's Park and Prince Edward Road were treated to a very dull programme in both the Men's and Ladies' section of the League on Sunday.
The Recreio-Tulsa friendly tilt was the main attraction of the day and softball followers turned out in droves to watch the Mighty Tees nose out the Recreio Aces 9-8. The fracas went two extra innings before the issue was decided.

Johnny Alvares, Recreio chucker, and "Snuff" Bailey, Tulsa's moundsman, exchanged pitch for pitch, but the Tulsamen were able to slap out ten hits to Recreio's six. Álvares struck out one and Bailey whiffed two. First on balls-Bailey belted a Ruthlan clout over right-fielder Zinho six Alvares five.
Nine errors chalked up against Tulsa and six against Recreio showed that both teams were off colour and playing much below their ustial' standard. As one of the Recreio Bees remarked after the game, "Recreio's drama of errors and bonehead plays cou-

the How true! Tulsa's mentor Buck game". Young had a broad smile on his face when the hair-raising tray ended, but I don't think he was fog pleased with his squad!
The count was knotted in the seventh 5-3. Recreio, who batted first, broke the knot in

In the opener at Prince Ed- ward Road Wahoos had an easy 7-3 victory over the Pir- ates, and connected for nine: hits off Maudie Read's offer- ing, while the Bucs only ac- counted for one single, by Nozadzo, off Rozy.
It is evident that Rozy must have been practising a lot lately to hold the Pirate sluggers to one hit and striking out four.

Maudie Read was not so fortunate on the slab. She was nicked for nine hits, includ- ing doubles by Terese Noronha and Jeanne Yolle.
The Pirates put up a good fight but they lacked the necessary oomph both on the fleld and with the willow wand.

In the second game Wildcats had their own way, burning the base paths to give the Baby Paulliers a very convincing 22 to 4 walloplug.
Irene Tavares pitched a grand game for the losers, but the "big Berthas" of the Wildcats, who slapped out no fewer than 19- hits, aided by 13 Panther bobbles, were too much A load for the diminutive flinger: Nevertheless she fanned five Wildcats and only walked three. Lily Mar allowed seven hits and walked three.
Doria Mar homered and Lily Mar tripled for the longest hits of the tussle. M. Campos was the only Panther who showed any prowess with the bat. She singled twice in tour times to bat.
