BASEBALL CLUB EXTEND
THE CHAMPIONS
(By "GRANDSTAND”)
Pinning Doc Molthen's ears back for 16 solid hits, in-
·cluding a circuit clout by Fonseca and another by Zinho Gosano, the rambling Recreio aces accounted for Hong Kong Baseball Club 11-6 in a fast and interesting tilt on the - Recreio ground on Sunday.
The Walkermen fully extended the champions and both teams played good ball with one miscue each. Hong Kong Baseball Club gave the Recs a good scare with six tallies in the first inning which turned out to be the only frame in which the Hong Kongites scored.
Johnny Alvares started shakily in LEAGUE BADMINTON
the initial frame to allow three hits four walks and two wild pitches, but was able to pick up his stride in the remaining stanzas to blank
the op- position in six cantos. Johnny allow- ed the Walkermen four hits, five free tickets to first and
no strike outs,
while Doc Molthen fanned one and walked two.
Henry Osmund, the H.K.B.B.C. third sacker, showed real power with the stick

Playing on their home ground the Ramblerettes of Club de Recreio took the long end of a 9-5 count from the Baby Panthers. Both teams played heads up ball, but four costly errors made by the Panthers to Recreio's two, told the story! The game was interesting and exciting in spots.
Anna Noronha, Recreio's first string flinger, and Irene Tavares, Panthers' mainstay, faught it out on the mound. Anna conceded 10 hits and fanned two, while Irene was nicked for nine hits and struck out three.

The merit of this performance will be appreciated even thers could only score one run in the better when it is taken into consideration that among the Recreio team were at least three players who have represent ed the senior team and have done quite well in that class of badminton.

Rozy started on the mound for the green- shirted owls and, before Hal Winglee was aware of his predicament, eight Cubs had crossed the plate on six walks, a hit and wild pitch off Rozy, and still none out!
"This won't do" said Ial, and Roxy was yanked in favour of their star chucker, Therese Noronha, "That's better now" re- torted Coach Winglee, "Next time I won't take any more chances”. Coach Smith's hopes dwindled as the game progressed! Wahoos settled down to business, scoring in all Innings except the last, to add up 19 while the down-hearted Bruins could only add seven runs to the eight Rozy gave them. Therese Noronha fanned seven bruins and walked five and Grandma Hutchinson went the full route on the mound for Cubs. She struck out one and issued six passes to first.
