I really thought, in the early stages, that University,

Recreio have only themselves blame for their defeat. Never will they have a better opportunity of causing a big upset than they had that evening. True, from the point of view of their male players University were at full strength, but P. K. Hui, premier the Colony's
player, was completely out of practice, Yong had played little more, and their second string Indy was unable to turn out.

This will be the first real test for Henry Eardley and his sister Miss Decima Eard- ley, Shanghai mixed champions. Last week against Talkoo they met with little opposi tion. If they manage to win three games, K. Hui and K. L. Yang, (Univer. was. Henry Best home player on view

In the other match University should have little dimeulty in taking points from Talkoo. PROGRAMME

I liked the way she droppad back to cover her partner when he was drawn out of position, and, being possessed of a good smash and accurate overhead drop-shots, she was able to assume this role afficiently until Gonsalves got back into position.
Miss Silva started off atrociously against Bun and Miss Khoo and could do little right. She improved somewhat in later engage ments, however, and supported Pereira well when they defeated Yong and Miss Wee.

With examinations behind them University have started once more to take badminton seriously. Notwith-heights of brilliance but her display was standing the brilliant form shown by. University will not have the, services of C.O. Lee who is studying hard, but speak highly of H. F. Chew, their fatent recruit from Malaya, He is described as being almost in the same class as Hul.
Chew will partner C. K. Lee, and, as the Les combination was rather weaker than the other two pairs last season, the team should be even more formidable, -
All in all the Badminton League, in all divisions, promises to be as interesting this Year 20ʼever, From inquiries made I have pertainly, detected: more. Individual“ entius-

NOT WELL-BALANCED
As anticipated, Henry Eardley and sister Decima were not required to exert them- selves against Taikoo and dropped only 12 points throughout the evening. I hope to see them in action at an early date, after which it should be possible to gauge their capabilities as compared with the best in Hong Kong.
