Army Make Many Changes For To-Day's Vital Game

(By "ADREM")
The University team which opened its Mixed Doubles League programme last night, at King's Park, was most difficult to recognise as the team which won the championship of this division hst season.
Two of the ladies playing were beginners and this marked their first match, only old hand being Miss Ulian Khoo. Miss Joyce Anderson and Miss Josephine Choa have both graduated.
University can be considered for- tunate to have won with so much to spare ---
they emerged at the right end of a 6-3 score — as in the early stages it appeared possible that the home team might win.
Wrong tactics, and the brilliant performances of the University men, however, settled the issue. Recreio men made the fatal mistake of try- ing to play their opposite numbers at their own game. Naturally they' did not succeed. A consistent short game and an attack on the University lady players would have brought results.
SON OF DONOR OF AITKENHEAD SHIELD IN COLONY
Local fawn bowlers will be in- terested to learn of the arrival in the

R. C. Aitkenhead, a member of the first Shanghai Interport team to win on local soll, donated the shield for annual competition between Island and Mainland clubs, to commemorate this event.
EARDLEYS SHOW PACES At Taikoo, chlef interest was cen- tred on the first appearance on the local badminton courts of Henry Eardley and his sister Miss Decima Eardley, Shanghai mixed doubles champions.
They were far superior to the op- position and only dropped 12 points throughout the evening.
