BOWLING ALLEY JOTTINGS
(By "STRIKE")
This week I have to report one of the finest Duck. Pin matches I have ever seen.
The occasion was a five-game match be tween U.S.S. Tulsa and the usual represen- tative team from the Alleys, played on Fri- day.
The Alley team won comfortably by 136 pins. The scores being as follows:-
Alley Team....1987 U.S.S. Tula....1851 The large margin in favour of the Alley Team would at Grat glance lead one to be- lieve that the Tulsa team played badly. On the contrary. It was actually due to the brilliance of the Alley Team, in fact, in my opinion it would have been hard for any Duck Pin team to have beaten them, on their form on this occasion.
Actual scores were as follows:- ALLEY TEAM:
The novelty of performing the pulse-stirring dance of the Torrid Zone on ice is heightened by the fact that Sonja Henle does it with a skating partner, her first on the screen. With Stewart Reburn she does several spectacular numbers in Irving Berlin's "Second Fiddle," 20th Century-Fox film opening to-morrow at the King's Theatre. This talent- studded picture stars Sonja with Tyrone Power, features Rudy Valleo and Edna May Oliver, has six new Berlin song hits, new-star Mary Hea ly, Lyle Talbot and Alan Dinehart.

TULSA TEAM:
J. Yalink
J. R. Terry
0. F. Drewea
H. 5. Baker ....... 420
From these scores it can be seen that both teams, with the exception of Baker of Tulsa, scored over 90 pins per game, Baker, who is probably one of the best Duck Pin bow- ters on Tulsa, was lowest scorer. This is very unusual for him; he is more generally on top of the scoring.
J. S. Landolt's 531 was a brilliant effort and he thoroughly deserved the honour of being easily the highest scorer of the match. There was also a Duck Pin match played on December 14, between Tulsa and Min- danao. It was the return match to the one mentioned before, Tulsa having won the first match were also successful in this one but by the very low margin of 41 pins..
On this occasion J. A. Vasko of Tulsa was the star bowler with 502 pins to his credit, nearest approach to him being J. S. Thomas of Mindanao with 475. As the scores show, Mindanao are improving more and more with each match; scores were as follows. U.S.S. TULSA:
J. A. Vasko
..502 or average of 100 pins
O. F. Drowes....468.

IN THE COLONY,
D. M. Hirschberg 435 34 On December 15, Doc Molthen played A, W. Muenger in the second round of the Singles Handicap Competition. Molthen started off with a plus 9 handicap... and Muenger with plus 22. This meant that Molthen was conceeding 13 pins per game. He won by 19 pins only which again de monstrates how accurately the handicapping was computed.
Individual scores were as follow#:— Doc Molthan
193 171 145 509 A. W. Muenger.... 144 161 156 400 On Sunday morning L. Gaddi was beaten --- by M. Talan by no less than 64 pins... It was the consensus of opinion that Caddi would beat Talan because he is a bowler of · 110 mean accomplishments and Talan, al- though also a good bowler, has not played for some time owing to illness. The follow- ing are the scores, both players starting off level:-
M. Talan L. Gaddi
..... 147 161 160 468
134 139 131. 404. It can be seen that Gaddi did not win one' game.
On December 19, we were treated to a very good Duck Pin Match between oldt friends of Tulsa, and new friends of U.S.S. Backer. This was the first occasion the Backer competed in a Duck Pin match and.-- they did very well,
On this occasion, much to the surprise. of- · all Duck Pins fans, Barker won by 39. pins. it was a three-game match only, due to lack of time, but it was an interesting match nevertheless. The individual scores were as follows:
U.S.S. BARKARI
V. P. Beckwith
L. L. Frederick
S. E. Grenuck

81. It can be seen, that although Baker, and-- Vaško of Tulsa bowled remarkably well, as
they unfally do, they could not stave off defeat for their side, the Barkar team oñd and all bowling over 90 per game, and, in the case of Beckwith and Grenuck, almost. 100 per game.
The names on the monthly' record board remain the same as last week with the ex-~~ ception of Mrs. Horton who has beaten Mrs...... Miller's Ten Pin score of 160 by register- ing 189, and C. B. Martinéz has beaten J, R. Terry's Duck Pin score of 134 by making 144. The records now-read: 15
