CORNER INCIDENTS
FIVE SUMMONSES ISSUED BY TRAFFIC SERGEANT J. SCRIM AGAINST MR. L. R. BROWN,
OF NO. 5, LA SALLE ROAD, WERE HEARD AT KOWLOON THIS MORN- ING..
Mr. Brown was alleged to have driven a car with no front lights on two occasions on November 16 (at 8.50 p.m. and at 10.10 p.m.) in Nathan Road and in Salisbury Road, to have failed to keep to the left, to obey a traffic signal or to stop when signalled.
Mr. Brown was represented by his son, who stated that his father was at the Kowloon Cricket Club be- tween 8.20 p.m. and 9.20 p.m. that night, so his father could not have been in Nathan Road at 8.50.p.m.
Sergeant Scrim said that an In- dian constable, on duty in the Box in Salisbury Road, at 8.50 p.m. saw the car, No. 390, driven in Nathan Road without front lights. He put up the red signal, but the driver ignored it and turned into Salisbury Road,
At 10.10 p.m., the constable again saw the car without front lights, and came out of his "Box" and used his hands to signal.
The driver completely ignored the signal and turned into, Nathan Road, On turning, the driver swerved to the right of the road to avoid pedestrian and stopped about 25 yards away.

Mr. Macfadyen adjourned the case for a week to enable Mr. Brown to appear,

"I can see no reason why you go begging," said Mr. Q. A, A. Macfad- yen this morning when a 58-year- old widow, Leung Kiu, of Canton Road, was charged with begging.
Det.-Sgt. J. Johnston said she was seen begging in Min Street yester- day, She was released on $25 bail.
When the police went to her home, a sum of over $1,000 in cash found.

Mr. A. L. Cole, first clerk of the Kowloon Magistracy, was complain- ant this morning at the Kowloon Police Court when a Kowloon Bus Company driver was summoned for failing to stop the bus when required in Prince Edward Road.

Mr. Cole, in evidence, said at 8.20 a.m. on November 18, was waiting at a bus stop in Prince Edward Road, near the Railway Bridge.
He saw a No. 13 route bus (No. 655) coming and he and two others, signalled
it to stop. The driver ignored the signal and tinued on.

As the bus passed, he saw a num- ber, at least three or four, of vacant seats in the first class. No persons were standing either in the first on in the third classes. The "Bus Full” | sign was not up.
The driver, Lo King-fai, claimed that bus was full and said he was signalled not to stop by the conduc- tor.
A fine of $5 was imposed.
CAR STOLEN
Miss Kwok Chun-chung, of No. 99, Robinson Road, has reported that her motor car, No. 2083, was stolen from Babington Path, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. yesterday.

WING ON COMPANY THEFT
So Po-lau, 26, was charged before Mr. T. J. Houston this morning, with stealing five bottles of Hennessy brandy, a sports jacket, and a woollen pullover, from the Wing On Company.
He was employed as a clerk in the Company at the time of the theft. He was arrested in Kowloon yesterday.
