FAVOURED by good weather and a sea that was fairly smooth, the Army Rowing Regatta went off well on Wednesday.

Three cups were up for competition, The Brown Cup, The Ah King Cup, and The Chaplain's Cup.

Unfortunately there was only one entry for the Ah King Cup (Fortress R.E.) and this trophy went to them without being rowed for. They were already the holders of the trophy having won it last year.

Seaforths were obviously a very fit crew and had apparently put in more training than the others, some of whom were very distressed at the end of the races.

Ordnance, who only got their crew together a few weeks ago, were never in the picture and, in fact, were So "all in" that they were tailed off and, I think, did not finish the course.

In the Chaplain's Cup, Fortress R.E. did not look too happy at the finish either! The second place in both races was filled by R.A.S.C., who did' exceedingly well on their first local rowing effort to beat Fortress R.E. into third place. They never looked like beating the Seaforth's, however, and were several lengths to the bad in both races.

WAS very disappointed with the team picked by the United Services for their match against The Rest of The Colony on Sunday. However, it is a fairly steady side which might quite possibly do more than hold the Rest.

Many people were surprised that Robinson of Navy was only chosen as reserve goalkeeper. The reason is that he was injured in the Navy match against South China "A" last week and it is very doubtful whether he will be fit again by Sunday. He is suffering from an injured shoulder.
