LAUNCH AND JUNKS BLOWN UP IN LANTAU MINEFIELD
A launch and two junks which wandered into a mine field north of Lantau Island just before midnight were blown up and sunk last night.
Only meagre details are known, as first intimation of disaster was the explosion, heard from Tal-O, but such information as is available sug- gests that there were only three, at most four, survivors of the disaster. These are believed to be members of the crews who escaped injury from the blast of the mine explosion and managed to cling to pieces to i wreckage. They were picked out of the water some hours after the ex- plosion by small boats and landed on Lantau Island.
