TERRIBLE FAMINE
CONDITIONS IN WARSAW
Paris, To-day.
AN APPALLING ACCOUNT of conditions in War- saw was given to Reuter by a neutral observer who has just arrived from there.
He declared that dead dogs are in the greatest de- mand for human food. Such a dog costs nearly ten shillings!
The general misery in the city is indescribable. Many of the most prominent buildings and thoroughfares are totally destroyed. There is no electric light, water or trams, only a bus line running.
All shops are closed and the publication of all newspapers is sus- pended. But the Germans are run- ning their own newspaper.
M. Starzynski, the heroic Mayor, and other members of the Civil Com- mittee which was charged with the defence of the city to the last are being held as hostages by the Nazis. STILL REBELLIOUS

ESTIMATES REVISED
London, To-day. The estimate of the full extent of enemy losses in the unsuccessful attack on. Saturday by twelve German aircraft on the convoy of British ships in the North Sea may have to be revised.
The Admiralty and Air Ministry announced that at least three enemy aircraft were brought down by our fighters and that a fourth raider was forced to alight on the sea.
On Tuesday two German airmen, whose machine had been shot down, were picked up after being adrift three days in a collapsible boat.
Three survivors of a crew of four of another. German bomber shot down by a British ship were also landed in England on Tuesday.
ON THE
WESTERN FRONT
Paris, To-day. A semi-official French statement explains that when the French Army eva- cuated most of the Warndt Forest they held on to hill- tops and crests `marking its southern and south-eastern boundaries.
Since the evacuation the Germans have been trying to dislodge them.
Elsewhere on the western front were raids and ambushes in there which both sides tried to take pri- soners.-Reuter.

The following reports re- garding Germany emanate two from a reliable source.
A Danish ship, according to a Copenhagen report, picked up German airmen from the North Sea on Saturday after seeing their plane crash.
