SOVIET TRIES TO DRIVE HARD BARGAIN WITH JAPAN

Peiping, To-day.

DESPATCHES FROM HARBIN indicate that the Soviet-Japanese Nomonhan truce negotiations have reached a deadlock.

Principal reason is the Russian effort to drive a hard bargain following their victory which preceded the truce of September 15.

FISHERMEN "KIDNAPPED"

Four Chinese fishermen were kidnapped by the Japanese Navy last Thursday night, according to a report made to the Police by Chan Kan-cheung, 27, who was brought into the Colony by friends last night.
