POLICE BELIEVE that a daring burglary at the Buckinghamshire home of American film star Robert Montgomery may have been carried out by Stanley Thurs- ton the man who escaped from Lewes Prison.
The burglary, at the lonely Manor House, Little Mar- low, took place during the week-end.

John Loder, the film star, who served in a cavalry regi- ment in the last war, is an- xious to leave Hollywood to serve again.
He hopes to become a liaison officer with the British and French armies, Loder was a prisoner of war in Ger- many, and later was an the staff of the Allied Commission.
Mrs. Selena Carson Morrison, mo- ther of Patricia Morrison, announces" that she is leaving for England to join the branch in which she served dur- ing the last war.

"Prince" Mike Romanoff, who hoax- ed America by posing as the Grand Duke Michael of Russia, says he wants to join the French Army, since America made him a man without & country by denying him citizenship.
Mr. Donald Crisp, the English actor and director, an old associate of Douglas Fairbanks, is also anxious to join up.
Mr. Crisp has had a long career in films and on the stage. He was educated at Eton and joined the 10. Hussars when the Boer War broke out.

WARNING
Torpedo ranging will be carried out on the Lai Chi Kok Torpedo Range early next month.
Until further notice, vessels,, junks and other small craft are warned to keep clear and not to attempt to pass the Lai Chi Kok Torpedo Range and Chung Hue Rock whilst red flags are displayed.
During each "run" a red flag will be hoisted on the target and also at the end of the pier. The position of the target at night will be distin- guishable by one white light.
While Mr. Montgomery, his wife; and two friends from America were listening to the wireless in the library a raider broke into the house through a bedroom window and stole an £80 fur coat and a handbag containing £3 in cash.
Scotland Yard are assisting in the inquiries.
The raider stole a ladder from a farm three-quarters of a mile from the Manor House, carried it across several fields, and used it to enter Mr. Montgomery's

Mr. Montgomery said: "It must have happened while we all sat in the library listening to the news bulletin at 10.30 p.m.
"We all went to bed, not knowing there was anything wrong, and it was not until yesterday morning — when the ladder one of the servants saw propped against the window-that we knew the house had been broken into. The man is said to have posed as an agent selling a car belonging to General Miaja, gallant defender of Madrid, who is now in Mexico.
Enquiries showed that the General knew nothing about the matter and so the man was arrested.
