SMUGGLING IN THE FATSHAN
An application for confiscation of cargo worth $4,000 was made by Mr. A. W. Grimmitt, Chief Preventive Officer, before Mr. T. J. Houston this morning.
The cargo comprised 355 tin blocks, 72 blocks of solder and zinc, 16 small packages of iron ware, one small bag of wolfram ore, one bale of joss paper and a bale of rice paper.
The articles were found on board the s.s. Fat Shan, hidden under the coal.
Mr. Grimmitt asked the Court to take a serious view of the case.
Mr. Houston said that any person who was caught smuggling would be severely dealt with.
The application was granted.
