It was a mother-shark, weighing 245 pounds and measuring 8% feet, and when cut open, nine small sharks, each about 12 inches, long were found inside.

Two parties set out yesterday morn- ing one led by Mr. Wong Kwok-chun, also of The Sun Company who caught several sharks last year and the other by Mr. Wong Chung-lam.

Mr. Wong Kwok-chun proceeded to the Tsun Wan area, but was unsuc- cessful.

Off Wong Chuk Kwok at Aberdeen, Mr. Wong Chung-lam, managed hook three sharks. Two managed to escape but the third was landed safely after an hour's "play."

This is the first time that sharks have been caught in waters off

Aberdeen.

BEATTY'S SON IS BACK IN NAVY

Earl Beatty, son of the famous Admiral, has gone back to the Navy.

In the "London Gazette" it was announced that he had re- signed his commission.in.the.Yeo..... manry and has been transferred to the Navy with the rank of Lieutenant-Commander.

Lord Beatty joined the Navy as a cadet in 1919, He left the Navy to enter politics and was elected Conservative M.P. for Peckham.

IN PEAK MANSIONS

IN A DESPERATE ATTEMPT TO ESCAPE, A CHINESE BURGLAR, ABOUT 20 YEARS OF AGE, BLIND- LY LEAPT THROUGH THE WIN- DOW OF APARTMENT NO. -12, ON THE SIXTH FLOOR OF THE PEAK MANSIONS AND WAS KILLED AT 3.30 A.M. TO-DAY.

The apartment was occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Guenther Stein, who were awakened by the intruder.

There was a struggle between Mr. Stein and the intruder, in which the former received slight injuries. The Chinese broke away and blindly dash- ed through the window, crashing to his death, six floors below.

The man is believed to be a sub- stitute coolle employed a week pre- viously by Mr. Stein.

The body has not yet been identi- fied but the police are endeavouring to locate a cook who is employed by a Peak resident and who is said to be father of deceased. Mr.. W. M. Thomson, Assistant Sup- erintendent of Imports and Exports, his car. The articles were either lost has reported the loss of a golf bag or stolen between Wanchai and the and golf clubs, valued at $330, from Gloucester Hotel on Saturday.
