CHINESE RAID JAP.

RHODESIA'S AID TO THE

AERODROME EMPIRE

Chungking, To-day.

A report claims that some fifty out of 180 grounded Japanese planes were either damaged or destroyed during the surprise Chinese air raid on the Hankow aerodrome yesterday.

The Chinese planes which took off from an undisclosed base were challenged by two Japanese pur- sults of the 95-type over Hankow but repulsed them.

Braving heavy Japanese anti-air- craft gun fire, they flew over the aerodrome and dumped a large number of bombs on the concen- tration of Japanese grounded planes and the hanger.

The deafening explosions were audible in the whole city and huge fires were started in the oil depot.
