In other sporting spheres, University has

shown that there is no lack of potential talent.. Take for instance badminton. When University started off in the Mixed Doubles League, apart from Miss Ulian Khoo, the ladies were a bunch of virtual novices that not even the then skill of their men partners could carry to, more than very occa- |sional victory.

There was keeness, however. P. K. Hul and his compatriots took two of the keener ladies, the Misses Jeanette Choa and Joyce Anderson, and by dint of patient coaching brought out the talent latent in both these girls Mix a solution of salt and water, or with the result that University have one of boracic powder, and an eye 'cup' slowly climbed upwards, culminating will do the rest. Lockhart Road,

Most of the girls competing had not the remotest knowledge of competitive swimming. Indeed, most of them were far from ready for anything but very gentle afternoons at Repulse Bay and other such pleasure spots.

That they were willing to face huge crowds in all the knowledge of their ignorance speaks volumes for their sportsmanship and courage and I feel that they would provide excellent ma- terial for intelligent coaching.

There is enough interest in competi- tive swimming locally to make the effort worth the while so let us see if something can't be done about it by the time the next University sports, or even better, the Colony champion- ships, once more come around.
