THE GERMAN MINISTER in Bucharest has lodged

a protest with the Rumanian Government WOMAN'S against the resignation, allegedly on Rumanian soil, of President Moscicki of Poland. The German Note said that President Moscicki had thus "performed an act of State," though in-
terned in Rumania.
However, a message from Paris says that President Moscicki made a solefnn pilgrimage to Kutny, in Poland, where

SIKORSKY TAKES OFFICE

General Sikorsky, the new Polish Premier and commander-in-chief, took the oath of office before President Recziewicz at the Polish Embassy yes- terday.
General Sikorsky paid homage to the heroic defenders of Warsaw, and awarded the military cross to the Po- Ilsh capital for its exploits.
The new Polish Government is seeking the co-operation of Ignace Paderewsky, Poland's first Pre- sident. who has been Ilving quietly near Lausanne for years.

A great air battle over the Siegfried Line, in which five British reconnaissance 'planes were engaged by 15 German fighters for 35 min- utes, is described in a Minis- try of Information bulletin.
Three British machines were shot down and another made a forced land- ing, but out of the 12 members of their crews, eight escaped by para- chute.
The squadron leader flew on alone and shot down two enemy machines. Hia 'plane, though, badly damaged, managed to reach the British fines, where it caught fire after landing.

CURIOUS INCIDENT
After hiring two bicycles, on August: 21, two Chinese youths dumped them into the harbour.
One of the bicycles was fished out the Shamshuipo Ferry on Saturday by a fisherman.

The two youths, Chan Yau, 19, and Li Wing. 24, were this morning. charged with larceny, by bailce, of the two bicycles.
Detective-Sergeant C. Pope, stated. that defendants were not seen again after leaving the shop.

Defendants said they were asked by two other persons to hire the cycles: and throw them into the harbour.
The case was adjourned.
