ROYAL NAVAL

RESERVE CALLED UP

A PROCLAMATION published in "Government Gazette Extraordinary" this afternoon, notifies that His Majesty the King has ordered and directed that the Royal Naval Reserves, or such part of them as the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty may direct, be called into actual service.

Notice is hereby given that all men in the Royal Naval Reserve who are absent from the British Islands are lable to serve in the Royal Navy, if called upon by the Officer Command-

this morning, three Chinese were each sentenced to three months' hard la- bour and 18 strokes, when they were charged with snatching gold wrist watches from women in Queen's Road Road West, West, and Des. Vouex yesterday.

Tam Ho-hang was given a similar sentence for aiding and abetting the offence.

Mr. Houston, passing sentence, said that persons who steal things from women, will be given heavier penal- ties in future.

The accused were Tsang Sang, 18 Lai Ming, 20, and Tsang Min, 18.

Detective Sergeant R. Mcvey pro- secuted,

Mr. P. Chesseux, popular manager of Gloucester Hotel, has returned to the Colony from Home leave.

Royal Naval Reserve men cer- ving in merchant ships abroad, on receiving notice of the issue of the Royal Proclamation at any port they may call at, are to report themselves to the Senior British Naval Officer at that port, or to the first British Naval Officer- they may meet, or failing that, to the nearest Registrar of Navál Reserve on arrival in the British Islands.

Royal Naval Reserve men abroad, but not serving in merchant ships, are to report themselves to the nearest British Naval, Dominion, Consular or Colonial Officer forthwith.

Any man falling to report himself without delay in compliance with this Order will be liable to arrest as a deserter.

Tension has revived in Chung- shan following the arrival of several Japanese armed trawlers, conveying troops, in the Wang- moon Channel.
