WITH THE B.B.C.

London, To-day. THE PRIME MINISTER made a statement in the House of Commons yesterday afternoon on the B.B.C. The powers held by Charter by the Postmaster- General, said Mr. Chamberlain, had been trans- ferred to the Ministry of Information.

This did not alter relations between the Government

and the B.B.C.

The Governors of the B.B.C. had been reduced from seven to two, to ensure the smooth and swift operation of the broadcasting system under war conditions.

This was according to provisions In the Charter, and had been agreed by the Government and the Board of Governors before the outbreak of war..

The new arrangements did not alter the structure of the constitution of the B.B.C.

NO CENSORSHIP

As regards censorship, the B.B.C. was in the same condition as the

press.

The Government had no desire, nor had they the power, to interfere with the discretion of the .B.B.C. in their: choice of entertainment and pro- grammes.-Reuter.
