The Liberal leader, Sir Archibald Sinclair, foresaw financial burdens of almost incalculable weight but were going to face them and Sir John Simon had rendered good service by letting the country face the facts in- stead of indulging in the muddled wishful thinking which had been pre- valent since rearmament began.
While reserving the right to make criticism on certain points later,. Sir Archibald felt that the Budget which was conceived on bold lines, deserved their support.
