The Home Office has already issued 370,000,000 bags to local authorities. In addition, 60,000,000, which have been ordered by the Government, are being unloaded at ports or are on the way to England in ships.
"Posters attacking the Nazi regime were displayed at Aix-la-Chapelle, Gladbach (Munchen), and Duren. In- cidents and demonstrations
are also reported from Krefeld (Crefeld), Cologne (Koln), and Dusseldorf.

While house- wives go with the new ration cards and secure a few grammes of rationed commodities, other members of fami- lies have been collecting all available cash, and descending on clothing stores and bicycle shops in search of articles not affected by the rationing.
"Even good Nazis are preferring any kind of commodities to money, which, they fear, may be devalued."

One woman who was at Dussel- dorf a few days ago describes how glumly silent crowds farewelled a party of youths going to the station. When near the station, a large group of women lay down in front of the youths and refused to move. The police, it is stated, fetched fire hoses and hosed the women before they would move.
