SUBMARINE ATTACKS

ON BRITISH SHIPPING

TWO BRITISH TRAWLERS, the Lord Minto (295 tons) and the Arlita (326 tons) have been sunk by German submarines. The crews were res- cued by another trawler.

Three British merchant ships were attacked by Ger- man submarines but eluded their attackers.

ITALY'S ENVOY FOR LONDON

The Ellerman City liner "City of Paris" (10,000 tons) was damaged by a Nazi submarine on Saturday and has been taken in tow for salvage. Of the crew of 138, all but one escaped in lifeboats and wero picked up.
