LABOUR LEADERS SHOCKED BY MOSCOW'S ACTION
London, To-day.
MR. ARTHUR GREENWOOD, Deputy Leader of the Labour Opposition, told Reuter: "The world will be profoundly shocked to learn that the U.S.S.R. has invaded Poland.
"The reason so far disclosed, seems to be completely
inadequate and without any justification.
"Repercussions of this action cannot yet be foreseen and speculation is futile.
"One thing, however, is certain whatever may happen, Britain's pledge to Poland will be honoured.
"Polish freedom is a symbol of all the hopes we cherish the final overthrow of tyranny and. the liberation of the forces of democracy and freedom,
"If Poland should temporarily be crushed, she will rise again in new
glory, typifying, the conquest over dictatorship and the establishment of permanent freedom in the world.”— 'Reuter.

Clouds and bad visibility are assets to the aggressor only when they intend to fly at a low altitude. The balloon barrage, going up beyond the clouds, renders such a form of attack practically impossible and compels the enemy to fly above the clouds, In both cases, the efficiency of enemy
bombing will be decreased consider- ably. The two principal objects of the balloon barrage are to prevent operations at low altitude and to re- duce the zone in which the defence forces must operate against the
