LORD STRABOLG! in the House of Lords last night, said that feelings might become very bitter and there might be a demand for reprisals against the German threat to bomb open towns and vil- lages.

Chungking, To-day.

Air Defence Headquarters announce that of 27 Japanese planes, which raided Wanhslen on Tuesday, three were shot down by Chinese anti-air- craft batteries and crashed near the town.

'Seven other machines were hit by anti-aircraft shells and are believed to have also crashed.

According to information from an observation post in west Hupeh, only 17 enemy planes were sighted on the return journey.-Central News.
