in Poland to-day, but it is evident that Warsaw is still in Polish handa.

A foreign newspaperman who has just arrived In Amsterdam confirms reports of the numerous German air raids on the Polish capital, causing heavy casualties among the civilian population.

HISTORIC LINE

The Poles are now expected to en- trench themselves in positions south of the River Vistula and along the Saan River, the historic Polish line of defence.
