Shanghai, To-day.
First indication that British troops in France have already taken up allotted positions in the front line along the Moselle River sector near Saar- brucken, is contained in an official despatch just received from Paris.
It refers to the advancing Allied Forces in this sec- tor of the line, while giving no details of the ex- tent of the advance.
FRENCH NAVAL BASE RAID THREAT
The Paris message also says that the launching of the Allled attack has forced the German High Command to rush troops up to the Western Front to bolster un the Rhine-Moselle Riv- ers line against the Allied troops.

It is reliably reported that Mr. T. V. Soong left the Colony yesterday by plane for Chungking.
Mr. Soong is said to have.been sum- moned to China's war-capital to dis cuss financial affairs.

ANOTHER BRITISH STEAMER TORPEDOED

Shanghai, To-day.
A wireless message picked up-in Paris from the United States liner, "Washington," reveals that another British steamer has fallen victims to a German submarine.
The vessel torpedoed is the Glasgow freighter, "Olive Grove," which was bound from Cuba to the British Isles with a cargo consisting wholly of sugar.
According to the scanty details thus far received, the Olive Grove was torpedoed yesterday evening some 200 miles off the north-west coast of Spain..
It is not yet known whether the ship has sunk as a result of the torpedoing, or whether any casualties have oc-
·curred;"'
The Olive Grove belong to the Grove Line (Glasgow) Limited, and was built in 1929. She is a vessel of 4,060 tons, and is 375 feet long. She is a cargo steamer.-Our Own Correspondent.
