EVACUATING

SAARBRUCKEN

Copenhagen, To-day.. The Berlin correspondent of the Danish newspaper “Berlingsketidende” says that the German au- thorities refuse to publish lists of casualties. Relations of the German dead are informed, but are strictly ordered not to tell others or to wear mourning.

The same correspondent, visiting Saarbrucken, says that the town is lifeless. All women and children have been evacuated.

Trains are crammed, with as many as 31 in a com-

partment.

The only sign of activity is that of French search-

lights nightly sweeping the sky.

INSKIP ON THE WOOLSACK

London, To-day.

Sir Thomas Inskip, the new Lord Chancellor, was introduced in the House of Lords. yesterday afternoon and took his seat as Viscount Caldecote of Bristol:

The German newspaper "Flens- berger Nachrichten" says that several people have been listening to foreign broadcasts, which is absolutely for- bidden.

Furthermore, they also told others what they had heard.

This, the paper says, is "lip- propaganda" and such people were committing a crime against "the whole Gorman people."

They are now. in prison, waiting to be sentenced to several years' impri- sonment.-Reuter.
