BRITISH

AND GERMAN SHIPS SUNK

London, To-day.

One British steamer and two German vessels were sunk yesterday, according to news received at 6 p.m., but details as to when and where are lacking.

The British ship was the Cunard- White Star cargo liner Bosnia 2,400 tons, whose crew and officers were picked up by the Norwegian ship Idana. One fireman was killed.

The German ships are the freighters Olinda and Karl Fritzen. Their crews are safe.

KING AND QUEEN TOUR AIR DEFENCE POSTS

London, To-day.

The King and Queen visit- ed civil defence posts yester- day, the King was wearing the uniform of Field-Marshal.

He has been in uniform ever since the war started and has instructed all his palace staff to do the same when on duty.

Her Majesty the Queen spent over an hour at the joint headquarters of the Red Cross Society and Order of St. John of Jerusalem. She inspected an air-raid shelter and then toured the premises.

Every worker on duty was pre- sented to her.--Reuter.
