WOMEN LAWN BOWLS ENTHUSIASTS

The English Women's Bowling Association's National amateur championships opened on August 21 at Wimbledon Park, London. Hundreds of com- petitors from all parts of the country made an un- usual sight all clad in white. In the final of the Lawn Bowls Open Pairs championship played at Kowloon Football Club yesterday afternoon, H. A, Alves and F. V. V. Ribeiro, of the Club de Recreio, de- feated T. E. Robson and H. Nish, by 28 shots to 11 after leading 10-4 at the 6th head..

His Excellency the Governor, Sir Geoffry Northcote, was present among 200 spectators and refreshments were served during the afternoon.

Mr. R. P. Phillips was the umpire. Nish was runner-up. to L., A. Gu¬" tierrez in the Open Singles in 1932..
