FATEFUL HITLER

INTERVIEW LASTS

NEAR TWO HOURS

|Another important stage in the efforts to avert ca- tastrophe in Europe was passed last night with the presentation to Herr Hitler of the British Government's reply to the message conveyed to London by Sir Neville Henderson.

The interview between the British Ambassador and Herr Hitler lasted for nearly two hours, but no inkling as to the result is as yet forthcoming.

London, To-day. The British Ambassador to Berlin, Nevile Henderson, left Heston airport for Berlin shortly after 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon with the British reply to Hitler.

In reply to good wishes from pressmen Sir Nevile said: "Thank I shall want all the good you. luck I can get."

Reports that M. Coulondre had an- other meeting with Hitler in the after- noon are denied.

Berlin, To-day. An official communique issued after the meeting between Hitler and Sir Nevile Henderson says that Hitler re- ceived the British Ambassador at the Chancellery at 9.30 p.m. in the pre- sence of Herr von Ribbentrop.
