IMPROVED OUTLOOK IN FAR EAST- JAPANESE GOVERNMENT CHANGES

WAR RISK INSURANCE RATES UP AGAIN

London, To-day.

A new schedule of war risk insurance issued by the Institute of London Underwriters yesterday shows large general in- creases, many over 100 per cent.

No rates are quoted for the Baltic and Murmansk, and the new rates exclude German and Italian flags.

Chief increases in cargo war risk insurance rates are:

To Portugal and Spain, 20/- out- ward and homeward.

and

To South Africa and East Africa, not via the Mediterranean, 20/~ 40/- homeward.

To South Africa and Eart Africa via the Mediterranean, 60/- outward and 80/- homeward.

All these rates are double to the previous rates.

FAR EAST RATES

To the East and Far East, North of 20 degrees, 25/- outward against 15/-, and 40/- homeward against 20/-.

OFFICIAL CIRCLES will not comment on the re-

signation of the Japanese Cabinet till the nature of its successor is revealed.

Nevertheless they acknowledge that the outlook in

the Far East certainly appears to be improving. Mr. Mamoru Shigemitsu, the Japanese Ambassador, left for London early yesterday from his country house at Maidenhead and immediately immersed himself in work and was unable to see visitors.

It is recalled that General Abe was the only general who pressed for the resignation of all the generals after the February Mutiny in 1936, on the ground that they were responsible for the affair.
