ENGLAND'S “LEADER"

SIR OSWALD MOSLEY'S

PROTEST TO B.B.C.

SIR OSWALD MOSLEY, leader of the British Union of Fascists, has written to the B.B.C. director of foreign talks protesting at what he describes as "the broadcasting of silly lies about this movement to foreign countries.”

He declares that if such broadcasts are continued, he will reply in state- ments issued to these countries.

It is understood that the passage to which Sir Oswald objects, an extract from a talk on political parties in England given in Italian, is as fol- lows:

"You have noticed that I have said nothing about either Communists or Fascists. The Communists form negligible group in the country. Fascists have been less successful.

"In spite of the clever oratory of their leader, Sir Oswald Mos- ley, they have never been any- where near to getting a member elected.

"The Fascists publish no figures and party membership about their they don't seem to be holding many nicetings these days.

"I was interested, however, to note that at the last meeting they held on Sunday, Sir Oswald Mosley declared that if Britain or the British Empire were attacked, or threatened with at- tack, every one of his followers would fight for Britain."

AUXILIARY FIREMEN COMMANDANT

Now that the London Auxiliary Fire Service has attained a strength of 31,000 trained or under training, it has been decided to reorganise the service.

A Divisional Officer of the London Fire Brigade is proposed as command- ant of the Auxiliary Service, under the direction of the Chief Officer of the Fire Brigade. A number of other officers and men of the brigade are to be seconded to assist the new or- ganisation.

The men's and women's auxiliary services will be separate and parallel organisations, each with its own offl- cers, who will be responsible for re- cruiting and training auxiliaries.
