FIVE MEN HIDE A GIRL'S BLUSHES
A girl bather whose shouts brought five young men to her rescue in Sand Bay, Weston-super- Mare, surprised them, when they reached her, by bursting into tears and asking them to go away.
They thought she was ill until one of them grabbed her to help her ashore and found she had no costume on.
Two buttons had given way on her swim suit and it floated off be- fore she realised what had hap- pened.
The girl, Eunice Ware, aged twenty-two, a typist on holiday from Birmingham, trod water for nearly half an hour while the five young men paraded the beach presuading people to go away.
Then she made a dash for the clothes she had left behind a rock- to find they were not there. Some one had moved them to the top of a rock out of reach of the tide.
"A MODEST AFFAIR"
She had to climb 20ft, to recover them before she could dress.
Miss Ware, whose home is at London-road, Oadby, Leicester (she lives in a hostel at Birmingham), blushed prettily as she told the press how she will be ragged when she goes back to work.
"You see, they already laugh at me because I won't wear those
daring two-piece swim suits,"| she said. "Mine is a very modest affair in dark blue, with shoulder straps which button at the back. "I don't know what made those buttons give way. Perhaps it hap- On, the Stock Exchange yester- pened when a wave rolled me over. day, although trading was again

"Then I saw a piece of my red frock hanging over the edge át the top of the rock, and the only thing to do was to climb up and get it.”
Over a glass of beer, one of the gallant rescuers, Mr. Ronald Hat cher, would admit no more than that he came from Lancashire..
"There is nothing to say. We just did what any decent chaps would have done in our place.
“It was a rotten predicament for a girl to be in," he said. "Quite a crowd of us went into the water my pals, Bill Tomalin and Roddy Berwick, among them. "I believe it was Roddy who found out what was wrong, when he tried to bring her ashore.”
