BIG-SCALE MANOEUVRES AT GIBRALTAR
Madrid, To-day.
Preparations on an exceptionally large scale for manoeuvres of the British Army, Navy and Air Force in Gibraltar on August 9, 10 and
11 are reported from Algeciras.
The Governor of Gibraltár has called on the population for the execution of work in connection with the defence of the peninsula. An order has been issued prohibit- ing residents from leaving their houses between dusk and dawn.
Severe penalties are announced for the non-observation of the
"blackout" orders.
Yesterday, five warships which are to reinforce the British fleet in the Mediterranean arrived in Gibraltar.
