TWO PHASES IN TO-NIGHT'S TRAWLERS
BLACK-OUT: PRACTICE: FERRIES TO STOP RUNNING
To-night, weather permitting, the defence authori- ties of Hong Kong will hold most extensive "black-out" in the history of the Colony. Every attempt to stimulate the actual conditions of war-time "black-outs" will be made.
"The practice itself may be divided into two stages: (a) Before the "air-raid;" and (b) during the "air-raid blackout."
The first stage applies to the "hours of darkness," which means half an hour after sunset to half an hour before sunrise. To-day, in practice, that means from 7.37 p.m. until the All Clear signal is given,
During this period, all external lights such as sky signs, illuminat- ed facias and advertisements and shop-window display lights must be extinguished.
