WIMBLEDON CHAMPIONS TROUNCED

New York, To-day.

A great surprise was caused уск terday by the defeats of the Wim- bledon singles champion. Bobby Riggs, and Elwood Cooke, with whom Rigga also holds the Wim- bledon doubles title, in a tourna- ment at Seabright, New Jersey. which was arranged to select the United States team for the Davis Cup.

Riggs was beaten 5-7, 4-6 by Frank Guernsey, a youth from Florida, who has been little heard of so far, while Cooke was defeat- ed equally easily by the 17-year- old Jack Kramer, by 3–6, 4–6.

The defeat of the two Wimble- don champions makes composition of the Davis Cup team even more difficult. Since the time of Donald Budge it has been felt that the American players, though some times very good, have lacked reliability.

This criticism is now consider- ed justified having regard to the lapse in form by the two Wimble- dop champions, who were beaten by unknowns in practically their first tournament since their return from England. Trans-Ocean.

ONCE ASHAMED OF HER FIGURE

Kruschen Made Her Slim, Healthy and More Active

Overweight and rheumatiam often go together, because they frequently arise from the same cause. It follows, there- fore, that the remedy which cures the one complaint will also cure the other. That was what happened in the case of this woman.

“A year ago,” she writes, “I was racked with pain from rheumatism and other complaints. I also put on 50. much weight that I was ashamed of my..... figure. I used to feel so miserable, until I was persuaded by my husband to take Kruschen Salts. After taking Kruschen for a short time the rheuma- tism grew less painful, my nerves got. stronger, and I lost a lot of fat. I am not boasting hen I say that I feel younger and more active every day.
