SHANGHAI GUN BATTLE

Shanghai, To-day.

Two "Ta Tao" Government "officials" were killed by the Municipal police early yesterday morning when a 15-minute gun battle occurred in Sinza Road.

The two dead were identified as "Ta Tao" Government members by cards found on the bodies.

The battle occurred at 7.30 a.m. when five gangsters held up a 50- year-old Chinese, who was alighting from a tram at the junction of Sinza and Chengtu Roads.

The victim raised an alarm, and attracted a Chinese constable who chased the gangsters and opened fire

One gangster was killed only a few yards from the spot, while the other was killed in'":"Soochow Creek into which he jumped to avoid arrest.

The other thres made their escape through alleyways.
