THE CHINA MAIL, JULY, 11, 1989
NAZIS WEARING JAP. UNIFORMS
Shanghai, To-day.
It is unconfirmably reported that a number of Ger- mån soldiers, dressed in the uniform of the Japanese Naval Landing Party, were seen marching recently in North Szechuen Road.
'It is also said that several had been seen outside the huge building near Hongkew Park forming the Naval Landing Party's headquarters.
Other reports state that the men are veterans of the Spanish war of intervention and that they arrived here in a Japanese freighter. Reuter. While, like Reuter, the "China Mail" is not in a position to sup- port the authenticity of this re- port, readers may recall that a few weeks back there was a mes- sage from Spain that a number of Italian troops, headed by several officers, had announced their intention of coming to China to fight the Chinese on behalf of the Japanese.
It is possible, therefore, that these men are Italians, if in fact they were actually seen.
