London, To-day. Robert L. Riggs, No. 1 rank- ing American lawn tennis player, emulated the per- formance of his more famous countryman, Donald Budge, by entering the final of every event in which he is entered at Wimbledon.

Whether he will carry this success still further and win all the finals remains to be

seen.

Following this extended battle, in partnership with Miss Alice Marble, favourite for the women's singles, he beat C. M. Jones and Miss Harvey in the quarter-final of the mixed doubles, and then ad- vanced to the final, later in the day, by virtue of a victory over CE Malfroy of New Zealand and Miss Betty Nuthall of Great Bri- tain. Both games went the whole distance, so, in all, Riggs played no fewer than 11 hard sets in the course of the day.

Reuter describes the play in the men's doubles as being almost monotonous, so perfect was it. It was the Cooke and Riggs and it marked the 18th meeting between
