THE WEATHER OF JUNE
During the first week of June the wind was mainly easterly, owing to low the presence of a trough of pressure over, the China Sea, and the weather was comparatively cool. The SW. monsoon set in on the. 8th, and continued without intermis- the sion for the remainder of month; it is unusual for the S.W. monsoon to blow for so long without a break, Temperatures during this period were slightly above normal. Throughout the month the weather was mainly showery; rain fell 20 days. There were, however, frequent bright intervals, and from the 24th to the 28th the weather was fine and sunny.

of 89.5° was recorded on the 30th, and a minimum of 70.9° on the 1st. The mean relative humidity was 85 per cent., against a normal of 83 per cent.
Sunshine amounted to 134 hours, which is 30 hours less than normal. The total rainfall was 8.65 inches, against a normal of 15.23 inches.
A maximum gust of 48 m.p.h.. from S.W. was recorded at 1 pm. on the 9th.
