DEGRADING SEARCH OF A BRITISH COUPLE
LADY STRIPPED ALMOST NAKED BEFORE PUBLIC

A British lady of German birth, it has just been re- vealed, was subjected to a degrading search at the hands of the Japanese when she was expos- ed to the public view practically naked.
The lady, Mrs. Finlay, and her husband, Mr. D. Fin- lay, were proceeding to the Country Club, of which Mrs. Finlay is manageress, outside the British Concession.
After queuing up in the search hut on the Japanese side of the barriers, the couple were ordered to strip.

A notorious poacher, a 76-year old peasant by the name of Abel Lecol, who is the father of five children, was called to the gendar-
merie station for examination.
When he did not appear, two gendarmes were sent to his home, but they were received-by- -shots, which killed one of them.
This they did, until Mr. Finlay was clad only in a singlet and his wife in a small under-garment. Both were exposed to the view of any onlooker.
A Japanese sentry was an in- terested spectator of the stripping of Mrs. Finlay, which was carried out by a Chinese female searcher. -Reuter.
