SECRET 'PLANES FLY PAST 700 PEERS AND M.P.S: DEADLY BOMBING PRECISION
About 700 members of both Houses of Parliament and other distinguished visitors attended an air display arranged for their benefit at the R.A.F. station, Nor- tholt, Middlesex. Luncheon was served in a marquee erected on the aerodrome.
The programme began shortly after 10 a.m. with a mass flight by 24 Wellington bombers, but the principal host, Sir Kingsley Wood, the Air Minister, was prevented by a Cabinet meeting from arriving until 1 o'clock. For the same rea- son a number of other Cabinet Ministers, who had been expected,
were unable to attend.
One of the most interesting events was the bombing of a tar-

get on the aerodrome with practice bombs by two flights of Battles. This was followed by a dive bom bing display. The target was only a few hundred yards from the visi- tors' enclosure, and the accuracy with which the pilots dropped their bombs was remarkable,"

CLOCKWORK PRECISION
The whole programme, which in- cluded formation flying on Hur- ricanes by R.A.F.V.R. pilots, aero- batics by three Gladiator fighters, a demonstration of the speed range of the Spitfire, and air drill by a squadron of Hurricanes, was per- formed with clockwork precision.
After the balloon demonstration which concluded the air display, great interest was aroused by the sudden appearance of two secret prototype aircraft.
The first of these, a silver colour- ed twin-engine monoplane, shot across the aerodrome at what ap- peared to be a terrific speed, even in comparison with that of a Spit fire.
The second machine, also a twin-engine monoplane, but paint- ed in camouflage colours and equipped with a gun turret in the fuselage, crossed the aerodrome in WHAT HE DESCRIBED AS “SIN-not appear to be travelling full out. a more leisurely manner, and did

FAMILY OF FOUR BEST
Lord Dawson said that in 1983 100 mothers were producing only 76 future mothers. The propor- tion of youth to age in 1940 would be only two to one, and, if the pre- sent trend continued, by 1962 youth.

"CHILDREN MAKE THE HOME”
"I put it forward that a family of four, wisely spaced, is a-good family, that wherever possible no family should be less than three," he said. This statement is based: on the interests of racial survival and strength.
"Surely it is equally sound from the point of view of the family, Children-make the home, and keep their parents young, while educat- ing each other."
The dominant cause of declining population was birth control, and the mistake of to-day was its ex- tension towards the point of sup pression,
