BRITAIN'S GRAVE VIEW OF TIENTSIN SITUATION: FURTHER STEPSCONSIDERED

London, To-day.

The British Government views Japanese acts of aggression upon British interests in the Far East with grave concern, said the Prime Minis- ter, Mr. Neville Chamberlain, in the House of Commons yesterday.

Mr. Chamberlain was replying to Mr. Arthur Greenwood, who asked whether in the face of repeated acts of aggression the Premier would take stronger action to express His Majesty's Government's displeasure. Mr. Chamberlain said that in the case of Tientsin, where the situation was most acute, he still hoped it would be possible to settle the local issues, but if negotiations failed, the Govern- ment was considering what further steps they should take.
