The cycling meeting which was due to take place, at Caroline Hill at the end of July may not after all take place, I believe that there have been several hitches, mainly administrative, which are rather difficult to overcome. How ever, there is still hope and the Colony may yet see its first cycling meeting this year.

In addition to Lawton, the 5th Re- giment could also supply several, other players who would do well in a higher class of foobtall than they have been playing in. Coughlan can play at. either centre forward or inside right and is a player with many nice touches. while Corbin, Barsby, Chaplin and May are also worthy of note.

There are many arguments in favour of Artillery turning out a First Divi- sion side here. In strength they are more than the equal of a battalion I should imagine, and undoubtedly they have the men to compose a first class side. In addition a team in the first division would give the less well-known players a start in Third Division
or Army League side which could be used as a nursery.
