CAPITAL RETURNING TO SHANGHAI

SHANGHAI, TO-DAY.

THE POSITION OF SHANGHAI WITH REGARD ΤΟ CHINESE TRADE AND FINANCE IS RE- VIEWED BY THE FINANCIAL EDITOR OF THE "SIN WAN PAO," WHO DECLARES THAT MUCH CHINESE CAPITAL HAS FLOWN INTO THE CITY,

Formerly Shanghai had always been the financial centre of China, of but shortly after the cutbreak hostilities much capital was trans- ferred into the interior.

Now, however, funds had accumu- lated once more in Shanghai to such an extent that the Chinese banks were unable to find profitable investments for the deposits.

All banks were therefore trying to find new markets, and a group of twelve banks, including the four biggest banks in the city, have Kunming, opened branch offices in

in an endeavour to develop business in the southwestern provinces.

In this connection the writer re- calls the Government regulations with regard to transfer of money, which were devised to relieve the congestion of Shanghai, but which were also responsible for it.

CHINESE BOY MISSING

A 15-year-old boy, Tsoi Po Nam, of No. 314 Portland Street, second floor, has been reported to the Po- lice as missing.

The boy was last seen at 9,80 June 16. He was then p.m. on dressed in a white singlet, blue and white striped shorts and wore clogs, He has an American-style haircut. Police suspect that he has been kidnapped.
