JAPANESE TIENTSIN ATROCITIES: HORRIBLE DEATH OF PEDDLERS

CHUNGKING, TO-DAY.

SEVEN OF THE EIGHTEEN CHINESE VEGETABLE PED. DLERS ARRESTED BY THE JAPANESE IN TIENTSIN ON SATURDAY MORNING HAVE SINCE DIED OF HEAT AND WERE SUBSEQUENTLY BURNED BY THE JAPANESE IN THE HAIKWANGSSU CREMATION GROUND.

SHANGHAI MAN WINS MORRIS CAR RALLY

London, June 5.

A prize for the car coming the longest distance to the seventh Annual Rally for Morris car own- ers in Donington Park yesterday was won by Mr. Gilbert H. Jolley, of Metropolitan Vickers Electric, Shanghai Office.

Mr. Jolley reached Oxford on leave on Friday, having driven 15,000 miles in a 1935 Morris Ten.

He came through Indo-China, Siam, Burma, India, Persia, the Balkans, Germany and Belgium.

The oldest car in the rally was a 1924 model, driven by its origin- al owner, Miss A. F. Sandes, Oak- well Drive, Ilkeston, Derbyshire.

Mr. B. Randle, Gainsborough Road, Leicester, won the News Chronicle Cup for the best kept Series I. Morris 8 four-door saloon.
